About CyberVigil

CyberVigil is a free website and email security checkup for small businesses with no IT department. Why we built it and how it works. A Routeless company.

Our mission

We help small businesses find security issues, understand what matters, and take action, without needing an IT department.

CyberVigil is a free website and email security checkup built for owners of bakeries, law firms, dental offices, agencies, trades, and every other business that runs without a security team.

Why did we build CyberVigil?

Most security tools are built for companies that have security staff. Point one at a small business website and you get either a wall of red warnings or a report full of jargon. Neither tells you what to do on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, many of the settings that matter most are small fixes. Turning on email impersonation protection (DMARC), making sure HTTPS works everywhere, or confirming a certificate will renew is often a few minutes in your domain or hosting dashboard. The hard part is knowing which settings matter and where to click.

We built CyberVigil for that part. Each report shows what we found and why it matters to your business, then walks you through the fix with the providers you already use.

How does CyberVigil work?

CyberVigil works in three steps: Check, Fix, and Keep watch.

  1. Run a free check of your website, business email, and domain. There's no signup. We look only at what's publicly visible, and our methodology explains every check and how the score works.
  2. Fix what we find. Every finding comes with a plain-English explanation and step-by-step instructions for common providers like GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. When you're done, re-check to confirm the fix worked.
  3. Keep watch, because settings drift over time. Certificates expire, DNS records get edited, and new staff set up new tools. Our Monitoring and Guided Help plans are opening soon, and you can join the waitlist on our pricing page.

Who's behind CyberVigil?

CyberVigil is a Routeless company. Routeless builds software for small businesses.

Our guides are written by the CyberVigil Editorial Team and follow our editorial policy. That policy covers how we use AI, how we pick sources, and how we fix mistakes.

What do we believe?

  • We explain what a setting does before we give its technical name. If you need a dictionary to read your report, we've done it wrong. Our glossary is there when you want the technical term.
  • CyberVigil runs public, outside-in checks. It isn't a penetration test or an audit, and we'll never promise that your business can't be attacked. We'll tell you what's in good shape and what would reduce your risk.
  • You won't get scare statistics or countdown timers from us. Most issues we find are routine settings, and we treat them that way.
  • You don't need an account to run a check. We don't store your raw IP address, and we don't sell your data or run ad trackers. Our privacy policy explains exactly what we keep.
  • Our checks, scoring rules, and AI guardrails are published on our methodology page, so you can see how every result is reached.

How can I get in touch?

Email us at hello@cybervigil.ai. We read every message, whether it's a question about your report, a mistake you've spotted, or an idea for a check we should add.

If you haven't yet, run a free check to see where your business stands, or browse an example report first.
